Matt Surch
President, Tekné Cycle Club / Editor, Tekne Cycling
Father of two, Matt has been blogging since 2007, melding his passion for all things cycling and philosophy, specifically with regard to the philosophy of technology, ethics, and cognitive science.
Matt began racing bikes in 1993, and has competed at Elite and Masters levels in Canada and the United States across a broad range of disciplines, from cross-country, downhill and 4X MTB, to road, cyclocross, and gravel. Matt’s most ‘prestigious’ results include two 3rd place overall finishes at Canada’s biggest gravel race, Paris-to-Ancaster.
Since 2018, Matt has spent ample time traveling with his family in Europe each summer, exploring mountainous roads and village cafes in the mornings, beaches and local attractions in the afternoons. While at home, his favourite summer activities include two-day rides in the Laurentians, mixed-terrain drop-bar rides through and beyond Gatineau Park, long singletrack MTB missions, and audacious road rips like B3R.
Matt’s passion for cycling, lifelong learning, progression, and innovation underpins his collaborations with numerous cycling brands.
